| NOTES: | ISSN: 0027-4623; Vol. 51, no. 601 (Oct 1927) - v. 83, no. 990 (Mar 1960); v. 83, no. 991 (Apr 1960) - v. 117, no. 1397 (May 1994) [Monthly; each vol. started October]; v. 117, no. 1398 (summer 1994) - v. 125, no. 1429 (July 2002) [Quarterly; each vol. started winter-no.]; v. 125, no. 1430 (Sep-Oct 2002) - [Bimonthly; vol. started Nov-Dec (cf. vol. 128-132 started Sep-Oct)]. - Continues: 'Musical Opinion and Music Trade Review' (1.1877/78 - 50.1926/27 = no. 1-600 = Oct 1877-Sep 1927). -- It is unclear when long title was discontinued definively. - ZDB devides both series differently as '1.1877 - 83.1959/60,990' and '83.1959/60,991 - ', which coincides with Bristol(copac), which says about MOpinionMTradeReview that: 'Variant title: Musical opinion. Title changes midway through vol. 83' (i.e. 1959/60). - However, in Notes xlvi/3 (Mar 1990) Leanne Langley claims that the title was shortened in 1964. -- [Sep 2009 by research on TCD] It seems that title was switched between short and long forms several times. It was shortened sometime before October 1941 (vol. 65, no. 769, the issue which has the following announcement: ''Musical Opinion' this month appears on a reduced scale owing to the limitation of paper supplies', p.5); the title was switched back to 'Musical opinion and music trade review' from Dec.1947. [TCD has 1941-1957]. |
